IRC ? MARTIN KANGUR LOOKS FOR A REPEAT PERFORMANCE IN SAN MARINO

Martin Kangur heads to the IRC San Marino Rally this weekend and is full of confidence following his brilliant 2WD Cup victory in Belgium two weeks ago.

The win at the Geko Ypres Rally means the Estonian driver is now joint leader in the 2WD Driver?s Cup with Harry Hunt, and he can?t wait to try and repeat the success in the 7th round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

?Harry Hunt is obviously the man to beat this weekend and I think we have a good chance.? says Kangur. ?The conditions here in San Marino are very different to the faster gravel I?m used to in Estonia, but I still feel at home on gravel and hopefully my experience on the surface will give me an edge. My goal is to win and score maximum points. And of course, keep Harry at a safe distance!?

The Republic of San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe, situated in the Italian peninsula, on the north-eastern side of the Apennine Mountains.

With the exception of one tarmac stage on Friday night, the drivers will face sandy, gravel roads winding through the picturesque neighbourhoods of Mercatello sul Metauro and Sant?Angelo in Vado.

Joining Kangur in the JAS Motorsport-Honda Civic Type R this weekend will be co-driver Ken Jaerveoja: ?Ken and I are old friends and have worked together in the past. It?s great to be driving with him again and I?m sure he?ll help me get into the points.?

The San Marino Rally starts on Friday 6th July with five special stages. The last of which is a new stage on tarmac that ends in the heart of San Marino. Eight further special stages follow on Saturday ? a total of 190 kilometres against the clock - with the first contestant crossing the finishing line at 8pm local time.
