New Honda Civic Type R TCR makes track debut
The new-for-2018 Honda Civic Type R TCR has been tested for the first time today by JAS Motorsport.
Italian constructor JAS is building an initial run of 25 cars, based on the latest-specification of the Civic Type R production vehicle, and will deliver the first batch to customers between January and May 2018.
The car was shaken down at the Autodromo Tazio Nuvolari in Cervesina by Roberto Colciago, reigning TCR Italy Champion and current TCR International title-contender.
JAS now enter into a thorough testing programme with the car before the first cars are delivered to customers in December.
Roberto Colciago said: "It's great to be able to get a first taste of the new Honda Civic Type R TCR. As this is only a first run it's too early to say much about the car, but initial impressions were that it feels well-balanced, the engine is responsive and the gearbox and other major areas like the aero package, are improved over the old car, which was itself a multiple championship-winner. Anybody who races this car next year is going to have a very competitive package."
