Another title plus four wins for Civic Type R TCR

The Honda Civic Type R TCR claimed its 11th major title of the season on a weekend when the JAS Motorsport-built car won four times on three continents.

TCR South America/TCR Brasil

Enrique Maglione secured the TCR Brasil Copa Trophy title on an incredible weekend for the Squadra Martino outfit at Buenos Aires as the team scored a one-two overall result on the same weekend that they confirmed official support from Honda Motor Argentina.

On a weekend when the races counted for both the South American and Brazilian series, Maglione led team-mate Fabio Casagrande in Race Two (having finished third in the opener) which was enough to clinch the title. Casagrande still leads the South America standings with two rounds remaining.

At the front of the field Matias Cravero scored a stunning pole position on only his second series appearance and then brilliantly drove through to second place in the reversed-grid opening race.

He was passed early on by Casella in Race Two but followed his team-mate home for a Martino one-two. Casella has moved firmly into overall South America title contention and is third in the points.

TCR Spain

Ignacio Montenegro moved to within a point of the championship lead with a win and a sixth-place finish at Valencia after producing one of the best opening laps in series history.

Starting seventh on the partially-reversed grid, the ALM Motorsport driver was second within two corners and led before the end of the lap. He pulled away to what was both an overall and Junior class victory.

He won Race One but was dropped to sixth by a 25-second post-race penalty for briefly going off the track and, supposedly ‘gaining an advantage’.

Team-mate Sven Karuse was eighth and ninth while series debutants TPR Motorsport ran Rene Povlsen and Jonte Engstrom to seventh and eighth in Race One. GOAT Racing’s Victor Fernandez was a double-retiree.

TC Americas

AP Racing dominated the TCR category at the latest round of the series at Autodromo Panama as the season came to a close.

Driver Sebastian Ng qualified on pole position aboard his Civic Type R TCR and tackled wet and dry conditions on race day to come away with a double win; increasing his tally for the season to three.

Four Civic Type R TCRs were in action with Ivan Salerno (FL5), Gianni Alessandria (FK7) and Cesar Garcia (FK2) on track.
