Civic Type R TCR in top five in IMPC season opener

The JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR began its 2025 racing season with a top-five finish in the opening round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona International Speedway.

HART trio Steve Eich, Chad Gilsinger and Tyler Chambers came from 10th on the grid to finish fifth in the four-hour race after a strong performance by the trio in what was only the team’s second event with the latest FL5-spec Civic.

Louis Philippe Montour was the best Honda driver in qualifying as he put the Montreal Motorsport Group entry third on the TCR grid.

He ran there during the opening phase of the race, but a misfire led to co-driver Dai Yoshihara retiring the car before Karl Wittmer had a chance to race.

KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering's Tim Lewis Jr set the TCR pace in the previous weekend's 'Roar before the 24' test.

William Tally qualified fifth on the team's Civic debut, but saw his race ended after just 10 minutes when he was pitched heavily into the wall by a car from the faster GS class.
