Civic Type R TCR on podium in Panama

The Honda Civic Type R TCR scored a podium finish as the inaugural TCR Panama championship began at Autodromo Panama.

AP Racing's Sebastian Ng qualified his JAS Motorsport-built car second on the grid and finished there in a processional opening race on Sunday, only to be excluded for a ride-height infringement.

Race Two was very different as he charged from ninth spot on the partially-reversed grid to move into the top five within a lap and then progressively climbed to second - where he finished - by half-distance.

His second-race result came after an entertaining battle with ART's Gianni Alessandria, who ran in the podium positions for most of the encounter before eventually taking fourth spot.

AP's Ivan Salerno finished ninth in the opener and recovered from a first-corner spin in Race Two to take 11th.
