Five podiums for Civic Type R TCR and pole for NSX GT3 Evo 22

Five podium finishes on two continents made for another strong weekend for the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR while the NSX GT3 Evo 22 was also in action, scoring a deserved pole position.

Sports Car Championship Canada

M&S Racing scored a TCR podium treble as the series staged one of its showpiece events on the streets of Trois-Rivieres.

Former series leader Gary Kwok produced the drive of the opening race as he came from seventh on the grid to second with a number of strong passing moves and narrowly missed out on victory after running side-by-side with the leader on the final few laps.

Team-mate Jonathan Young fared best in a chaotic Race Two; passing two cars in one move and then taking advantage when the leader collided with a backmarker at the next turn to move into a career-best second place with just two laps left.

Tom Kwok was third while brother Gary was a non-starter. Young and Tom Kwok were fourth and fifth in Race One.

TCR China

MacPro Racing Team's Martin Xie maintained his title challenge with strong fourth and sixth-place finishes at Zhejiang, despite his Civic Type R TCR suffering at the hands of compensation weight during the weekend.

His new team-mate Bao Wei Deng was 14th and 16th while Norris Racing's Chein Shang Chang - also a new face for the weekend - qualified a career-best ninth and finished strongly in seventh as well. Evolve Racing's Siu Man Ming was 17th in Race Two.

TCR China Challenge

Team TRC returned to the series for the first time since the main championship and the challenge fields were separated and scored their first podium of the season thanks to a determined drive by Euan Chan in Race Two.

Chan was seventh in Race One, two spots ahead of team-mate William Cheun, who qualified third, but was boxed in at the start of Race Two when the pole-sitter stalled and was then spun by a rival on the next lap. Cheun was fourth in Race Two.

Thailand Super Series GT3

Kantasak Kusiri qualified on pole position at Sepang aboard Singha Motorsport Team Thailand’s Honda NSX GT3 Evo 22 for Sunday’s race at Sepang.

Sadly, he and co-driver Piti Bhirombhakdi did not have the chance to take advantage of their achievement as heavy rain and safety concerns from some drivers led to the race being cancelled shortly before the scheduled start.

They were fourth in Pro-Am in a dry opening race, one spot ahead of team-mates Voravud Bhirombhakdi and Carlo van Dam.
