Four wins for Civic Type R TCR on another strong weekend
Four wins on two continents made for another ultra-successful weekend in touring car competition for the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type TCR.
TCR Denmark
A double victory for Mike Halder at Jyllands-Ringen brought him level on points with Malte Ebdrup - the weekend's other winner - at the top of the championship standings.
Ebdrup qualified on pole position for the second event in a row and won the opening race for Mascot Motorsport with Racegroup, followed by Halder's TPR Motorsport Civic.
Halder turned the tables in Race Two; starting near the back of the partially-reversed grid but making it up to second place within six corners and passing team-mate Rene Povlsen for the lead a lap later.
Ebdrup was second and the pair repeated their results in Race Three; Ebdrup also winning the Under-25s class in every race and increasing his category lead.
Reigning champion Kasper H Jensen (Racegroup) took a pair of thirds, but was beaten to the final podium spot in Race One by series returnee Jan Magnussen, of DM Racing.
Magnussen's team-mate Lars Hojris won the Am class in Race One with Povlsen taking the spoils in the other two races. Mathias Dall, of Dall Motorsport, was second in the Under-25s in every race.
TCR South America
Leonel Pernia increased his series lead with a third win of the season from pole position at San Juan and added fifth in the reversed-grid race to maintain Honda YPF Racing's position at the top of the Teams' standings.
Team-mates Nelson Piquet Jr - who completed an all-Honda front row - and Tiago Pernia (Leonel's son) stalled at the start; Tiago retiring but Piquet dropping to sixth. He recovered to fourth before contact damaged his car and put him out.
Piquet and Pernia Jr were sixth and ninth in Race Two with Mariano Pernia (Leonel's brother) seventh twice. Trophy class leader Adrian Chiriano won the category in Race One and was second in Race Two behind the Porthack Racing entry of Enzo Gianfratti.
IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge
Montreal Motorsport Group challenged for victory throughout the first half of the two-hour race at Laguna Seca; Louis Philippe Montour forming part of a front-three breakaway early on.
A drive-through penalty for overtaking under yellow flags dropped the car to fifth, but it remained in podium contention afterwards. Contact from another car broke co-driver Karl Wittmer's steering at two-thirds distance and ended his race.
The KMW Motorsports with TMR engineering Civic of William Tally and Tim Lewis Jr has a strong race to climb from ninth on the grid to fourth place with just 15 minutes of the two hours to go. The car dropped to 14th by the flag.
TCR Asia
Spark Racing's Jerry Sun took a career-best second-place finish in the opener at Ningbo while Team TRC's Euan Chan, William Cheung (who started last after being black-flagged in qualifying) and Tommy Ku came through to fifth, seventh and 12th.
Cheung was the only finisher in Race Two.
TCR China
After a challenging qualifying session, MacPro Racing's Henry Ho charged from 19th to ninth in the first of two races at Ningbo and improved to seventh the following day while team-mate Cheng Zhu was 18th in Race Two.
Norris Racing's Siu Ming Man and Tony Chan were ninth and 12th in that race - their best results of the weekend.
