Harris claims 19th major title of 2024 for Civic Type R TCR

The Honda Civic Type R TCR claimed a magnificent 19th major title of 2024 on yet another winning weekend for the JAS Motorsport-built touring car.

Brad Harris claimed the Challenge title at Bathurst as he and twin brother Will completed an unbroken run of victories in the class for the Honda Civic Type R TCR and the Wall Racing-run Exclusive Switchboards squad.

It was Will, racing the latest FL5-spec Civic for the first time, who had the upper hand in qualifying as he put himself on the front row overall in second spot and claimed Challenge pole.

Will was pushed off the track at the start of the opening race, allowing Brad to move ahead and claim a 16th class win of the year. Will, who finished second in Challenge in the opener, got his own back on Sunday with a pair of victories.

His Race Two success came in a career-best second place overall. While his weekend haul was enough to give him second place in the challenge standings, Brad finished the season n impressive third in the overall points table.

 

TCR South America

Squadra Martino scored a magnificent one-two finish at Rio Hondo as Juan Manuel Casella moved to within a handful of points of the series lead.

The Uruguayan qualified his Honda Civic Type RTCR third on the grid but started strongly to move up to second at the first corner and was then allowed to pass pole-sitting team-mate Rodrigo Baptista at the following bend.

Baptista played rear gunner for the rest of the race, protecting his team leader and helping him to secure. a second win of the season. Casella added fourth place in Race Two, meaning he has cut the gap from 23 points to just two with one round left.

Baptista was less fortunate in Race Two; the Brazilian taken out of a strong top-six position in an incident with another car. Team-mates. Tiago Pernia and Matias Cravero took best results of eighth and 10th across the weekend.

Enrique Maglione won the Trophy class in both races and now heads the standings from absent team-mate. Fabio Casagrande.

Maglione qualified on pole position in the category and was untroubled at the front in either race. He and Casagrande are now the only drivers that can win the title.
