JAS Motorsport Development Driver Philip Lindberg to make TCR World Tour debut
Honda's Kumho TCR World Tour representation will double at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps this weekend as JAS Motorsport Development Driver Philip Lindberg joins the series.
The 25-year-old Dane will drive a new Honda Civic Type R TCR FL5 run by ALM Motorsport as team-mate to Nestor Girolami.
Philip's main commitment in 2023 will be in TCR Denmark with his own PL Racing Team, but he is contesting the Spa event - also a round of TCR Europe - to enhance his experience of racing against an international field of drivers.
It will also give him the opportunity to work closely with Nestor, runner-up in last year's WTCR -; FIA World Touring Car Cup, and part of the coaching and management of the JAS Driver Development Programme - during a race weekend.
Further opportunities for Philip in TCR events outside Scandinavia have been identified and will be communicated at a later date.
Philip Lindberg said: "I'm looking forward to making my TCR World Tour debut this weekend with ALM Motorsport. It will be my first international event and my first time at Spa, so while I've been maximising the amount of time I can spend on the sim at JAS and closer to home, I'm still expecting it to be a very new experience. So far all the work I've done with Nestor through the DDP has been with him supporting me. This time we'll be team-mates so the dynamic will be different, but that's going to be a whole new learning experience and I'm sure I can become stronger through it. I'm there to gain as much experience as possible and I can't wait."
Riccardo Incarbone, JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme Manager, said: "We're very pleased to be able to add the TCR World Tour event at Spa to his existing programme in TCR Denmark. The JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme aims to provide a 360-degree education for any young racer who wants to become a top professional and this weekend will form a key part of that. Philip has learnt many useful things from Bebu already in our training camps and workshops at Arluno, but the chance to see how a top professional driver works on a race weekend will be very important for his development. We want him to learn as much as possible."
