MM Motorsport score double one-two finishes with Civic Type R TCR

Kevin Giacon and Paolo Rocca led an MM Motorsport demonstration at Vallelunga as the Honda Civic Type R TCR scored a pair of crushing one-two finishes at the opening round of the Coppa Italia Turismo.

Giacon - the 2020 series champion - was a commanding winner in each of Sunday's two races aboard the MM Machine as he led his team-mate to the chequered flag.

Rocca's participation at Vallelunga was only announced 24 hours before practice, but the 2022 champion - who is at present not confirmed to take part in any further rounds - was instantly on the pace as he stormed to pole position.

He lost the lead at the start of Race One and later in the race allowed Giacon - who is contesting the full season - to pass and mount a challenge for the top spot.

This proved a wise decision as Giacon pressured the leader to outbrake himself and run wide at one of Vallelunga's hairpins during the closing stages.

After an intense three-wide moment at the start of Race Two, Giacon and Rocca pulled clear of the back and completed a second one-two finish to leave themselves on top of the points table.

Halder Motorsport switched their line-up for Round Two of the Nurburgring Nordschleife-based series with Michelle Halder replacing Round One TCR pole-sitter Nicolai Sylvest

Co-driver (and older brother) Mike Halder qualified second and led the opening quarter of the four-hour race, but Roger Vogeli retired the car in the second hour with a technical issue before Michelle had the chance to drive.
