More South American success for Civic Type R TCR
Leonel Pernia maintained his TCR South America series lead as the Honda Racing YPF driver scored his second win of the season at Obera, Argentina.
Pernia led a 1-2-3 result for the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR in qualifying and produced a faultless drive in Sunday's opening race to claim the win.
Team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr and Tiago Pernia - Leonel's son - had started second and third, but Tiago Pernia started slowly and dropped to fifth. He recovered to fourth - one place behind Piquet - by the chequered flag.
From 10th place on Race Two's partially-reversed grid, Leonel Pernia quickly moved up to seventh, but cleverly picked his way through some final-lap chaos to gain several spots and finish on the podium in third.
Tiago Pernia was 10th after himself being pushed off the track while attempting to overtake. Piquet and Mariano Pernia - 11th in Race One - both retired.
Series debutant Enzo Gianfratti scored his first Trophy class victory in Race Two for Porthack Racing. He was unable to resist a charge from Honda Racing YPF's Adrian Chiriano in Race One.
Polesitter Chiriano's second category victory of the year restored his points lead. Honda Racing YPF also head the Teams' Championship.
