NSX GT3 Evo 22 in the points at Le Mans
Reigning Le Mans Cup GT3 Champions GMB Motorsport fought back in determined fashion to give the NSX GT3 Evo 22 a double top-six finish at the series showpiece event, the Road to Le Mans races at the legendary French endurance circuit.
Winners of the race last year, the Danish team had Thomas Andersen and Simon Birch in the #55 NSX as well as Lars Pedersen and multiple Le Mans 24 Hours class winner Jan Magnussen aboard their #88 JAS-built car.
Starting 16th in class, a long safety-car period in Thursday's opener that extended to the mandatory pitstops plus a sizeable amount of green-flag running afterwards allowed Magnussen to haul #88 up to sixth spot by the chequered flag.
Race Two was a near repeat in it's make-up, allowing Pedersen and Magnussen to again finish sixth. Andersen and Birch ran them close on Friday, finishing eighth on the road before a 30-second penalty for a short pitstop dropped them to 16th.
They made amends with eighth on Friday.
The car was competing as part of the NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme; a global collaborative project with JAS Motorsport responsible for assembly of all cars.
Honda Performance Development (HPD) and M-TEC handle sales and technical support in North America and Japan respectively, with JAS responsible for these areas across the rest of the world.
