NSX GT3 Evo 22 in top 10 at Super GT finale
Team UPGARAGE put the NSX GT3 Evo 22 inside the top 10 in the GT300 class as the Super GT season came to an end at Motegi.
Takashi Kobayashi and Syun Koide, who have won twice this season, qualified fifth with one of their best Saturday performances of 2023.
Both drivers set an excellent pace during the opening stints of the race and climbed to second place before the final pitstops.
A badly-timed Full-Course Caution, however, caused them to lose time to rivals who had stopped earlier and meant that Kobayashi resumed the race in ninth spot. He climbed to eighth by the chequered flag to seal fifth place in the points.
Yogibo Racing duo Yugo Iwasawa and Reimei Ito qualified 17th in their NSX but had to start from the pitlane after suffering a clutch issue during warm-up. They made progress throughout the first two-thirds of the race but did not finish.
Both cars were competing as part of the NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme; a global collaborative project with JAS Motorsport responsible for assembly of all cars.
Honda Performance Development (HPD) and M-TEC handle sales and technical support in North America and Japan respectively, with JAS responsible for these areas across the rest of the world.
