NSX GT3 Evo 22 wins Thai GT crown with Singha Motorsport Team Thailand
The NSX GT3 Evo 22 scored its 25th major championship success on Sunday as Singha Motorsport Team Thailand pair Piti Bhirombhakdi and Kantasak Kusiri won a dramatic Thailand Super Series GT3 finale to seal the title.
Having driven their JAS Motorsport-built NSX to fourth place in Saturday's opener, the duo knew that a top-six finish would be enough to settle matters.
Polesitter Kusiri trod carefully during a frantic opening lap on Sunday. He lost the lead into the first corner and gave way easily to others, mindful that a finish was essential and that any risk of incident should be minimised.
He was fourth by the time the driver changes began and Bhirombhakdi continued the charge. He snuck into second place with an ambitious move around the outside into Turn One with 20 minutes of the hour-long race remaining.
He then closed an eight-second gap to take the lead with 10 minutes to go and pulled away to a fourth win of the year and championship success.
The sister car was raced to a podium finish in third place in Race One by Voravud Bhirombhakdi and Carlo van Dam.
The latter sat right behind Kusiri during the first half of Race Two; the car eventually finishing fourth.
