NSX GT3 set for European debut

The Honda NSX GT3 will make its European race debut in 2018 in the German-based ADAC GT Masters series.

Renowned race team Schubert Motorsport have entered one of the JAS Motorsport-built in the championship as part of the NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme.

Racing the car will be a pair of talented young drivers; 19-year-old German Christopher Dreyspring and 20-year-old Swiss, Giorgio Maggi.

Dreyspring is the reigning European Lamborghini Super Trofeo pro-am champion while Maggi is a former title winner in the Asian Le Mans Series and last year raced in Blancpain GT and the European Le Mans Series. They form a silver-ranked junior line-up.

Founded in 1999, Schubert have a distinguished history. Highlights include the GT Masters title plus outright victories in the Dubai 24 Hours, Blancpain Endurance Series and VLN, class successes at the Nurburgring 24 Hours and several titles in saloon-based series in Germany.

The NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme was launched by Honda at the Spa 24 Hours last year with an initial batch of cars produced following a development programme run in collaboration between Honda Motor, JAS Motorsport and Honda Performance Development (HPD).

JAS are responsible for not only the construction of the cars, but also the sales and technical support for all territories globally except Japan and North America.

Stefano Fini, JAS Motorsport NSX GT3 Project Leader, said: "We are delighted to see the first European programme confirmed for the Honda NSX GT3. With race victories in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship and Pirelli World Challenge in 2017 and a strong start to the US season at Daytona and Sebring, it's clear the car is capable of being competitive from the get-go. Schubert are an extremely successful team with two talented young drivers and I'm sure they'll show the car's capabilities extremely well."
