Podium clean sweep for Civic Type R TCR in Chinese Taipei

The Honda Civic Type R TCR secured its latest victory of 2023 as GH-Team AAI led a clean sweep of the podium for the JAS Motorsport-built car in TCR Chinese Taipei.

Shi Shiwei and Kevin Chen triumphed in the second round of the series at Lihpao having pulled clear of an entertaining three-way battle for the lead that ran the entire first half of the race.

Chen, who started second, took the lead at the opening corner of the race as pole-sitting team-mate Liu Weizhi ran wide and dropped to third.

He then swapped the lead four times with his nearest rival during the opening 30 minutes while Liu kept a watching brief right behind the pair.

But a swift driver swap during the pit window ensured Shiwei - now aboard - had an untroubled run to victory ahead of Weizhi; the AAI squad finishing first and second.

BORDER completed the all-Civic podium thanks to an ultra-quick pitstop that helped leapfrog Yihao You and Jianye Huang up three spots.

Jiahong Gao finished sixth in class aboard Speed Verse Racing's Civic.
