Tiago Pernia scores Civic Type R’s 40th win of 2025 Brazil
Tiago Pernia scored the 40th win of 2025 for the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR as he sealed a maiden triumph in TCR South America at Curvelo.
The son of championship leader Leonel Pernia, Tiago scored his second pole position of the year on Saturday for Honda Racing YPF, who have topped qualifying at every event so far in 2025.
The Curvelo event also marked the opening round of TCR Brasil and Pernia was rarely threatened during the first race as he claimed his first victories in both TCR South America and TCR Brasil.
Team-mate Nelson Piquet made it a Honda YPF Racing one-two; the front-row qualifier losing second spot at the start but regaining it at two-thirds distance as Pernia was hit from behind by another car, who Piquet was able to pass as he recovered.
Leonel Pernia was fourth in both races, but is not registered for TCR Brasil points so only scored in the TCR South America category. He retains the South America points lead. His brother Mariano Pernia retired from both races with technical issues.
Adrian Chiriano won the Trophy class in Race Two in eighth place overall. Added to his second in class from the opener, the Honda Racing YPF driver could potentially seal the South America title next time out at Velocitta.
