Triple triumph for on super weekend for NSX GT3 Evo 22

The NSX GT3 Evo 22 had its best weekend of the season with three outstanding victories across two continents for the JAS Motorsport-built racing car.

While Singha Motorsport Team Thailand enhanced their Thailand Super Series title hopes with a dynamic double at Sepang, there was also joy for Nova Race in the Italian GT Endurance Championship at a very wet Imola.

Thailand Super Series

Singha Motorsport Team Thailand duo Piti Bhirombhakdi and Kantasak Kusiri extended their series lead with a pair of well-judged race wins at Sepang, Malaysia; the duo being the top scorers of the weekend.

An unusual Friday race was held as the replacement for the rain-cancelled event from the previous visit to the circuit in July and was notable for an incredible start by Team Thailand's Carlo van Dam, who took two corners to go from fifth to first.

While he was unable to hold onto the lead and eventually finished fifth in Pro-Am with Voravud Bhirombhakdi, the sister NSX, which had qualified on pole position, remained in contention throughout.

A faster pitstop than their chief rivals meant Piti Bhirombhakdi seized the lead at half-distance and held it to the finish.

He and Kusiri doubled-up in Race Three - again from pole position - and added third in Pro-Am in Race Two meaning the pair hold the series lead with just one round to go.

Van Dam and Voravud Bhirombhakdi were fourth and sixth in Pro-Am.

Italian GT Championship

Felice Jelmini and Alex Frassineti scored Nova Race's first outright win of the season in a rain-shortened race at Imola as the NSX GT3 Evo 22 proved unbeatable.

The duo qualified on Pro-Am class pole in third place overall and remained close to the front of the field throughout a race that started behind the safety car and remained ultra-tricky for all drivers.

Frassineti hit the front of the field after the second round of pitstops, which came just before the safety car was again deployed due to the worsening conditions. The race was eventually red-flagged just short of two-thirds distance with a result declared.

Luca Magnoni, Massimo Ciglia and Rodolfo Massaro made it a double pole position for the team as they went quickest in Am-class qualifying. Unfortunately, they did not finish the race.

GT World Challenge America

Racers Edge Motorsports continued their improving form with a pair of third-place finishes in the Pro class as the series moved on to Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama.

Having qualified second overall, Mars was shuffled back to fourth through the opening sequence of corners, but settled into a strong rhythm and both he and Veach remained in the hunt for honours throughout the 90-minute opener.

They were again third in Pro in Race Two and hold fourth spot in the standings with one round to go.
